8/4/2021 3 Comments The Return To Oz!Yes, it's been a long time coming....I think my Whanua in NZ will all be happy I finally followed the deep call to return to this magical land so they don't have to listen to me crying all the time. Aaaaaah, many memories, reflections, flashbacks and yet everything is new, glistening, strange and different also. The shifting of countries is not as straight forward as my 24 year old self remembers, alas we remember the glow and flow not the triviality of life admins thank goodness. It was 11 years ago I left Oz for Nz after 3 transformational years. My dreads were born, my dread business hatched and my spirit loosened, alivened and set free. What, I wonder, will this return uncover for me? Constantly excited by the possibilities of meeting more renditions of my self. Plans are fluid and shifting and i'm keeping up as best I can, because i'm not in control of this crazy ride. But I have a vehicle! Oh my gosh how much I value owning a set of wheels, the freedom of the road, the endless possibilities, especially here, I feel so spoilt by opportunities. And so I keep coming back to the deep listening, of both my body wisdom and the deep humming of the earth....which direction now? Whats the next step? It's an ongoing process of trust. Throw in a lockdown why don't you...lets just test this calling some more...nah, not wavering, not looking back but leaning back into the support of my ancestors, grounding down, getting my fingers into the dirt and asking the Kaitiaki of this land for blessings and guidance. So i'll be working mobile here for the time being, between the gold coast and the sunshine coast, covid permitting and possibly at some markets near you soon! Please keep posted on my fb and insta for my current locations...I promise I will settle in one place soon....Meanwhile i'll do my best to meet your needs. My ears are open to your thoughts, suggestions and local intel!

7/6/2014 1 Comment How to get rid of dreadsThis is a pretty commonly asked question. The easiest and most fun way is simply to choose a charity you feel strongly about, raise a heap of cash, have a massive party and make a video. Please take 5 mins to enjoy will's dread shave video. 10/19/2013 1 Comment Back to reality, but its not so bad :)Well, I'm feeling pretty refreshed after my amazing 7 weeks away overseas catching up with family and friends and generally roaming around aimlessly. But i'm finally back at the needle, i'm sure you'll be pleased to know. In fact I haven't stopped since I landed back 3 weeks ago. Great to meet lots of new faces as well as catching up with my lovely regulars. I am slowly building my stock up again for summer so bare with me and there'll be new goodies soon. Hopefully this summer I will have my own palm oil free dread shampoo bars as well as a dread conditioning balm to help against the sizzling NZ sun. So looking forward to another great kiwi summer, i'm already feeling the warming bbq vibe. Hope to see you all soon. 7/1/2013 1 Comment The sun beckonsSorry everyone but i'm afraid i'm going to escape the chilly nights for a few weeks. I'm off to catch up with my Whanau back home in possibly sunny Scotland!? I'll be out the country from the 1st of August to the 20th September but will still be contactable to give prices and information via email and text though email is preferable. I apologise for any inconvenience this might cause but i'll be sure to bring back some travel stories, keep tuned to my facebook page for photos and updates. And business will be as normal from the 20th september. 3/31/2013 0 Comments Long summerWell its been a great long summer here in the mount and all the other amazing places that we've been getting to. Met lots of new dread lovers between Raggamuffin and Womad and I'm sure we will be doing a trip to taranaki again soon. We've also got a new load of large dread slouch hats ready for winter and felted add-ins and extensions if you like to go for something a little less conventional. Also 10% off new sets until 18th of april so get in soon!! 2/21/2013 1 Comment bamboo crazyLove what this gisbourne company is doing. www.gobamboo.co.nz using bamboo to replace little plastic household short life items. Think its time to awaken my environmental consciousness and step it up a notch! 2/19/2013 0 Comments 2013!So it's been a while but i'm still here. Was chocka block with Raggamuffin madness but thankfully back down to earth now. I have also been expanding my range of hats so pop over and check them out. There's also new beads and new add-ins instore now., including the much asked after feathers!! I do not stock the genetically modified feathers, which are a longer slender feather. The ones i have are from regular farmed roosters, locally hand dyed and they actually suit dreads better being a little wider. I've had my feather in for 3 months now and its still strong. As well as that i have a new page that tells you where and when i plan to be around the country so i can bring some needle twisting dread work to your door. Trying to cover all bases here but if you'd like to see something new instore give me a shout and i'll see what i can do. 12/27/2012 1 Comment holiday opening timesdread styles hope everyone's been having a great festive time, i am going off the grid for a few days if you have any enquiries, please send a email or text and i will reply as soon as possible. next appointment's available from the 3rd of January, daytime as well as evenings and weekends.
