About us...We started dreading 4 years ago as an 'on we go' type of business and haven't stopped since, except to settle in christchurch for a year and half and feel some crazy shaking. Now we are on the move again and we are based in Mount Maunganui, Bay of plenty. We have a dread studio set up in our home on Maunganui rd, Tauranga. (we're right opposite McDonald's can't miss us!) We will also travel to Raglan, Hamilton, Rotorua and Auckland to do your dreads. Though a travel fee may apply.
Technique:
All we use is a crochet hook and a backcomb.
Along the way of our travels we have met many people with dreads and found many weird and wonderful ways to dread, deciding to avoid the bad and learn from the good we now have an awesome method of forming dreads. This involves no nasty products (wax, glue, perming solution). We also do not loop through dreads which maybe you have noticed gives a kind of twist and sometimes leaving a large hole in the dread, this is not particularly healthy either.
We specialise in fixing up malformed, self formed or otherwise crazy dreads. We can pull in loops and loose hair, separate, truncate, extend, split, join or rejoin dreads, as well as adding extra dreads in for extra volume or length. We also create dreads from scratch. All this is done with the help of our trusty crochet hook and a heap of patience and practise.
